DIY – Natural Kitchen Counter Spray
I love this kitchen counter spray! It does a great job, smells good and leaves no streaks. On top of that, it is very inexpensive to make.
When i became more aware of the dangers of most typical cleaning products I started looking for alternatives. At the time, there were not many good choices on the grocery store shelves. I then started researching how to make my own.
Many store bought cleaning supplies have artificial fragrances. As soon as you turn your cart down the aisle, you are assaulted by the smells coming from all the products. Artificial fragrances are not regulated by federal law. The chemicals in these synthetic aromas can be dangerous to you and your pets health. This subject it too big for this post and I will discuss more about artificial fragrances in the future. At minimum, I would suggest purchasing unscented cleaning products.

Let’s talk about the ingredients in this kitchen counter spray:
White vinegar is the main ingredient in this Kitchen Counter Spray. It’s inexpensive, natural, and tough on bacteria, mildew, and dirt. Because white vinegar has antimicrobial properties, it’s a useful disinfectant and cleaner for a tons of surfaces and appliances.
Lemongrass Essential Oil – Not only does lemongrass smell great, it instantly deodorizes anything you use it on. It also has some serious germ-fighting powers, too.
Tea Tree Essential Oil – Is antimicrobial and is goof for a wide spectrum of bacteria and fungus.
Eucalyptus Essential Oil – is great cleaner, deodorizer and antiseptic. It’s also amazing on grease.
*Please note that all essential oils are very concentrated and powerful. A tiny bit goes a long way and more is not better. For cleaning products, I use good essential oils that are not diluted but they don’t have to be organic. I will choose organic if they are close to the same price. Organic essential oils are better for diffusing or using in skin care products.
Ingredients:
Natural Kitchen Counter Spray:
- 4 ounces of white vinegar (See note)
- 10 drops of Lemongrass essential oil
- 10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
- 5 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil or Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil
- 1 cup distilled water. Distilled water has no bacteria.
- Supplies:
- 16-Ounce glass spray bottle
- Pour all the ingredients into a glass spray bottle and shake to evenly distribute.
- Note: Vinegar can damage granite counter tops that are not sealed. Replace the vinegar with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
Incredibly easy, inexpensive and most of all made from natural ingredients that are good for your home environment. Love it!
